TMG is a transliteration of the initial Russian abbreviation (ТМГ) where:

- ”М” stands for oil;
- ”Г” stands for hermetically sealed.
Design features of low noise oil TMG transformers
The main feature of all hermetically sealed oil TMG transformers is that they do not use detachable coolers and expansion tanks. The main corrugated tank, due to its corrugated walls, additionally cools the oil during operation of the power transformer. The oil is poured into the corrugated tank under high vacuum.
The expansion-tank-free hermetically tight design of the unit completely prevents the oil from contacting with the environment. This ensures total protection from moisture ingress and subsequent oxidation. The oil retains its dielectric properties throughout its entire service life.
